The US President and the Senate showed their absolute lack of respect for their own tradition, for their office, and for the faith our citizens put on them in the spectacle of their meetings with BP.
First, the president, without any legal authority, but with the full power of his office, extorted 20 billion dollars from BP, and warned this is not the end of it, more extortions are to follow. Since when do we need a Godfather as a president?
Then the Senate (I don't remember the name of the committee) spent a day insulting the BP president. The senators did not seek information, they provided it. "All of your competitors think you are a pile of s..." Don't your agree! Why don't you agree? When are you going to be fired?
Is this a way for a civilized country to deal with a problem? Where is the search for truth? Where is the search for responsibility.
Our government looked like a bunch of thugs jumping on someone who was on the ground whimpering.
