Comment: My white neighbor thought I was breaking into my own apartment. Nineteen cops showed up.

Washington Post - Fay Wells, Cops are bad

There is a lot of nonsense in this article, as well as a lot of sad facts.
1. She again mentions Michael Brown as one of the reasons for her worries. It is the opposite, Michael Brown may have been the cause for some of the Police Behavior. A good policeman was crucified when a black thug tried to kill him and he had to defend himself. There were no other officers around, so now the go in groups.
2. Ms. Wells talks about "the militarization of the police" which has nothing to do with her situation. Did they bring tanks and bazookas to make an arrest?
3. The police did provide their names to her. Probably the two cards she got where from the officer's in charge.  After bureaucratic handling she got the rest, and in sufficient disorder to be normal.
4. She complied with the officer's orders, so nothing physical happened to her.  The same would have happened to most of the "cases" she mentions. When that is not the case there are investigations and the police perpetrators are indicted.
5. I see no racial overtones to this. Given that it was Santa Monica, no Cops were black? None were Hispanic? I'd need to investigate that before giving it credence.
All in all I appreciate that Ms. Wells had a bad time with the Cops. But her anger is politically focused and misdirected.
