This is my response to: Baby boomers are what’s wrong with America’s economy by Jim Tankersley

So we are criminals who destroyed the world and the capacity of our children and grandchildren to succeed.
We are also those that spoke truth to power in Vietnam, who paid what the government requested until we became the government in 2003 (by the author's reckoning) and who trusted that our money would be there and sufficient when we needed it as we were promised. The "lock box" contained nothing but IOU's in 2000 (seen Al Gore) so historically the author is full of it as well.
The problem with my generation is that we were visionaries who tried to do well by everyone, we supported war on poverty, we increased supports for AFDC and managed to destroy a good portion of our family ties, we even supported Obama and his radical changes and profligate spending.
We are guilty of being well meaning and good hearted. Governments should be small so people can't be dependent on it, it should be restricted so that boys aren't forced to "bathe" with girls in locker rooms simply because the are transsexual.  We need to get back to basics:
1.  Pay our debts (20T by the time Obama leaves)
2. Support our seniors who paid what was asked from them and cannot take care of themselves in old age.  (Those that can should be given the minimum promised and nothing else, otherwise we pay more for bureaucracy than benefits!)
3. Eliminate all non essential parts of government (HEW for example)  and eliminate regulatory agencies and all regulations not approved directly by congress.
4. Keep us safe from enemies foreign and domestic.
