““If we are to affirm, as I do, that the children in the
womb who are killed at abortion facilities are in fact children. . . then
action taken to defend them is justifiable and cannot be condemned.”
This thinking is sick; leaders in the antiabortion movement
have a responsibility to condemn it, forcefully. “
Ruth Marcus never compared her feelings if one of her
children were in danger, to that of a person who believes babies in the womb
are just that, babies. For people who believe this, abortion is murder and
defending the innocent is praise worthy rather than to be condemned.
This does not mean that the murder of adults is permissible,
and the attacks on Planned Parenthood Clinics were overwhelmingly condemned. After all a human life, whether in the womb
or outside, is precious.
She is right that on such emotionally charged issues there
can be fringe elements that are violent.
The same can be said for such causes as the Proletariat Revolution of
1917, or the long march of Mao.
Extremism is not restricted to religion or abortion.
How Ms Marcus goes from this to “demonize(ing) Planned
Parenthood feels different” eludes me. The tapes show beyond reasonable
doubt for some of us that “organ legging – the sale of fetus parts” was going
on. So she may think it is unconscionable, many of us do not.
Comparing this to “Black Lives Matter” is just as
silly. Yes, we believe that they
influence attacks on the police, but that is because they chant their
invitation to kill cops ( “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon,”. It
is because at least one cop killer bragged about his plan to kill cops before
doing it. These people were not
denounced by the “Black Lives Matter” leaders or movement, nothing similar
happened with abortions.
