Barbara Boxer sent a message concerning the "Airline Passenger Bill of Rights". This bill:
• Require airlines to provide passengers with food, potable water, comfortable cabin temperature and ventilation, and adequate restrooms while a plane is delayed on the ground.I have been delayed in the past, and treated respectfully. (solution 1) If I don't like it, I can never use that airline again. I in fact did that many years ago with an international carrier.
• Require airlines to offer passengers the option of safely deplaning once they have sat on the ground for three hours after the plane door has closed. This option would be provided every three hours the plane continues to sit on the ground.
Why involve the government in this. Why not apply Solution 1 if it does not happen?
• Require airports and airlines to develop contingency plans for delayed flights to be reviewed and approved by Department of Transportation. The bill also allows the DOT to fine air carriers and airports that do not submit or fail to comply with contingency plans.
Why airports? Why not the carriers, and again applying Solution 1!
• Direct the DOT to create a consumer complaint hotline so that passengers can alert the agency about delays.
Why do we need Big Brother? Why not apply solution 1?
In fact. Why not eliminate all the beaurocracy forced upon airlines by the government and permit the users to use Solution 1 to solve all resulting problems. Don't Bail them Out, and don't control them.
