The email they would not accept

I tried to send the following email to the Senate Majority Leader in California. He, unfortunately, only answers to his own constituency, those who cannot vote for him cannot influence him, but he, of course, can influence all of us.

I wish the California would concentrate on California business. How to get out of debt, how to control ilegal tresspassers into our country.
Being a Latino which came to this country legaly, after years of waiting patiently in line, I get really angry when people deminish the wellfare of Californians, and use Latinos as semi slave laborers.
Please stop messing with Arizona, and advocate the same "CAN DO" approach for California.

Sotomayor impressed me

I was impressed by her answer, and it was plausible. If she deserves the benefit of the doubt, and I believe she does, I would not be for denying her the seat.

Her position is that we all are a product of our backgrounds, which is why more than one judge is necessary. That we all see the world through the peculiarities of that background (Kant would add our mental equipment). As a result, we need to be aware of these tendencies precisely because we need to compensate for them to be "blind" and unbiased.

Good answer, although it does not answer why she would be better as a Wise Old Latina, to a Wise Old Woman of any background!
